In terms of area, Allama Iqbal Industrial City is the largest among the social-economic zones of Pakistan covering up to 3217 acres. Adjacent to M-3 Industrial City AIIC comprises a large number of projects including textile, pharmaceuticals, information technology, chemicals automotive, service complex, etc. This social-economic zone has been designed on international standards to fulfill the needs of international Chinese industrialists. 25% of the total project area has been dedicated for Green area, Services & Facilities as per international development standards, while 3217 acres of land is divided into various plot sizes to accommodate small-medium and large-scale industries. The work is in progress since 2019 and utility provision is expected to be completed by 2022.
While reviewing the progress on the construction of Allama Iqbal Industrial City on his visit to Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company ( FIEDMC ), Razzak Dawood (Advisor to Prime Minister on commerce), said that the work is proceeding at a fast pace and also mentioned that the Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved 500 mega-watt grid station to meet future energy demands of the industrial units.
Allama Iqbal Industrial City Priority Special Economic Zone is strategically located just opposite M-3 Industrial City SEZ and interconnected through flyover at Sahianwala Interchange, Motorway M-4, Faisalabad and its key features include electricity supply, gas supply, water supply, solid waste management, treatment plant, one window service center, centralized security, warehouses and dry ports, transportation, hospitals, hotels, and restaurants.
The Chairman of (FIEDMC) Mian Kashif Ashfaq while addressing Razzak Dawood said that the project was being executed on a fast track basis on the directive of Prime Minister Imran Khan, said a press release received here. He said that the facility of gas, power, water and basic infrastructure, civic center, etc, required for new industrial units had been provided. He said that Federal Minister Mian Hammad Azhar and Minister Industries Punjab Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal had also issued directives to the concerned departments for early completion of the mega project of national importance. The Chairman FIEDMC further informed that nearly 20 industrial units had started their production which covered one-third of the land of the first phase of Allama Iqbal Industrial city while the remaining would go into operation by end of the year. He further added Many Chinese industrialists want to invest in Pakistan. I met many Chinese businessmen during my visit to China last year and they showed keen interest in investing here provided we give them a suitable environment. This SEZ will provide that environment to them and give them the confidence to relocate their industries in Pakistan.
Allama Iqbal Industrial City is one of the nine SEZs planned to be built under CPEC across Pakistan. The SEZs are lifelines of Pakistan’s industrial development as they are likely to create over 2 million employees across the country, besides enhancing exports and uplifting several potential sectors of the country. Razzak Dawood also expressed his satisfaction regarding the fast pace of progress and also appreciated the hard work, dedication of the members of FIEDMC.
