Expecting a new era of success with Mission China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is Pakistan. The country has already claimed fare bit of promotion in competitive global with project CPEC still on his way. Encouraged to initiate certain more developmental projects CPEC so far is promising to take Pakistan to the new altitudes of success.
Panos Mourdoukoutas, a professor and chair of the Department of Economics at Long Island University in Brookville, NY, wrote in his Forbes column that while Pakistan ranking 115th out of 137 countries in the recent World Economic Forum (WEF) report was still low compared to its neighboring countries, it is a big improvement from the 122nd position the country occupied last year and the 133rd position back in 2014.
With this progress, we expect a lot more progress in years to come. Not only that Pakistan crawls out of bottom-20 in Global Competitiveness Index. Pakistan effectively improving his position in seven places in the influential Global Competitiveness Index of the World Economic Forum (WEF). Somehow making its way out of bottom twenties but still lingering at the last place among South Asian countries, revealed the 2018 report.
The 2017-18 Global Competitiveness Report, which compared governance in 137 countries this time as opposed to 138 in the previous year, ranked Pakistan at 115th – 22 places from the bottom, compared to 16th from the bottom last year. Last year, the WEF had conducted a survey in 138 nations and Pakistan was placed at 122. This increment is surely an excessive visible success but considering the circumstances this seems to be below par. The amount of investments incurred and level of concentration received one could easily expect something bigger than that, but never the less at least the country after many years have got some direction to move on and the path to reach humongous success in years to come.
Talking about this year indices update, among 114 global competitiveness indicators, Pakistan showed improvements on 82 key indices, whereas on 20 indices the country lost its previous position. In 12 indices, the position remained the same as last year. Comparatively from earlier progress, this seems quite satisfactory and if facts remain identical and stay in the same lane, we might see some great fallouts towards the end of this year.
Potentials are being utilized opportunities are being grabbed if we continue to do the same it is certain that we might be in the strongest position of our history in years to come and hold a virtuous position in World economic forum.
